Meet Paul Lefebvre

Member of Parliament for Sudbury since 2015, Paul Lefebvre is an accomplished tax lawyer for 20 years, a business owner, and a former Commissioner to the Human Rights Commission of Ontario. In 2018, he was appointed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau the Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Natural Resources of Canada. As such, he represented Canada at the G20 in Japan in June 2019.

He was a member of the Public Accounts and the Official Languages Standing Committees, as well as the Natural Resources Standing Committee. Since his election in 2015, Sudbury has received historic investments totaling more than $400 million and more than 1,000 public sector jobs.

Paul Lefebvre holds a Law Degree from the University of Ottawa and a Masters of Taxation from the University of Waterloo. Before being elected MP in 2015, he practiced law at Ernst and Young, Couzin Taylor, Weaver Simmons and Lefebvre Law.

Paul taught international taxation at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa and has written many articles that have appeared in numerous publications, including Lawyer’s Weekly and the Canadian Tax Journal.

He is the past chair of the Sudbury Community Foundation, the 2011 Canadian Francophone games, Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario, Centre de santé communautaire du Grand Sudbury, and the past Vice-President of l’Association de la presse francophone. As a music enthusiast, he’s also a founder and past chair of the Jazz Sudbury Festival.

Paul is married to Dr. Lyne Giroux and together they have three children.
